Notes:
Mufti Menk- Enter Ramadhan with a clean heart.
-> fasting is a shield (armour).
-> fasting to achieve piety (ie taqwa)
-> Dont welcome the month of no food with unhealthy food & unhealthy eating.
-> Abstain fr food & desire.
-> a month of training to attain piety.
1) A month of forgiveness
-Lets soften our heart.
Ramadhan can shift us into a special mode spiritually.
2) A month to cleanse our heart
'A grudge is like a poison u drink expecting the next person to die'.
-> Cleanse our heart & Release all grudge, hatred, jealousy & envy from our heart!!!
-those being oppressed, blessing is bestowed upon them. Its a test.
- Qualities of those entering Jannah: Conciousness of Allah & good character & conduct.
3) The sunnah is to eat healthy:
Start with Water, dates & yoghurt.
Eat the seasonal Fruits.
4) Suhur lightly. Eat slow release food for barakah.
5) Abstain fr food & desire.
> Concious with what we put into our mouth & what come out fr our mouth.
> Fuel our engine with something good for barakah.
> Hadith: if a person is to bec vulgar with u : say I'm fasting.
> Learn how to react/respond/ retaliate. Let unimportant thing go buy... Dont get stressed out unnecesserily.
6) syaitan is chained during Ramadhan.
The big syaitan is chained but not the little ones who r more venomous.
The devils see u from a position u cannot see (throw deception- wireless/blue tooth etc...
* So Protect our shield.
* Ramadhan is a month of training.
* if we have iman, we can feel it -> we r in a different mode spiritually.
* hadith:
* Tarawih is a gift fr Allah. Make an effort to learn & understand the Quran. Reflect on the ayat read by the imam.
* Quran is the greatest detergent that cleanse our heart.
Read the surah & reflect on the
meaning.
* use this month to CUT out the bad habits (eg irresponsible use of mobile phone).
* night of power & decree
-> make DOA & ask Allah for forgiveness & goodness in this life & the hereafter.
